Sea surface water temperature in the Seto Inland Sea is estimated with accuracy of BIAS=0.0 and RMSD=0.66 from NOAA/AVHRR image by using MCSST equation. The parameters of this equation have a different value from those used in other sea areas. Monthly charts of sea surface water temperature distribution in the Seto Inland Sea from 1991 to 1992 are made and the characteristics of seasonal variation are revealed. The remote sensing technique by a satellite can be used in coastal sea area as an effective method of sea surface water temperature observation.
