It is a great honor for me to be awarded the Oceanographic Society of Japan Prize. On this memorial occasion I have decided to deliver my message in a form of an essay on memories of my scientific activities lasted for more than twenty five years. The main purpose of this is to refresh myself with critical recollection of the past accomplishment in the field of large-scale ocean-atmosphere dynamics. However, if it could inspire young members of the OSJ with any useful ideas, my pleasure would be certainly doubled.
