1. The first report of subphrenic abscess due to Peptostreptococcus morbillorum in Japan was presented. The patient was eighty-seven years old female and died of myocardial infarction directly. Clinical and laboratory findings were described in detail in this paper.
2. The diagnosis of subphrenic abscess was not made clinically, but at autopsy Peptostreptococcus was isolated purelly in anaerobic atmosphere from the pus of the infected foci. In pathologic examination, the organisms were seen stained gram positive in the histiocytes or polynuclear leucocytes infiltrated in the abscess tissue.
3. This organisms is highly susceptible to many antibiotics except for aminoglycosides and colistin.
