An autopsy case of 12-year-old male Lesser Panda suffered from severe marginal periodontitis was presented. Patho-anatomical diagnosis was left broncho-pneumonia, congestion of lungs, filariasis, slightly fatty degeneration of liver, atrophy of pancreas and adrenal cortex, arteriosclerosis, gastro-intestinal catarrh, and severe marginal periodontitis. The drifting of tooth and periodontitis were manifested in all teeth, especially in molars. Histologically, bone resorptions were found not only in pars alveolaris but also in pars corpus and basis. Microscopic feature of bone lesion belonged to the types of smooth resorption and perforative canal formation, and the lacunar resorption type involving osteoclasts was rarely found. Arteriolosclerosis was noticed in the maxillary and mandibulary arteries. The severity of bone resorption was not positively correlated with that of gingivitis.
