For histo-morphological analysis of the electrical osteogenesis, a system was devised using a microcomputer, digitizing pad, CRT, floppy disk drive and X-Y plotter. This system and BASIC program made up a bird's-eye view of the callus by putting the tracings together. Osteogenesis in alveolar bony defect was activated by the electrical stimulation for four weeks, and a large callus was formed on the buccal cortical bony plate in the cathode. The height of callus was maximum in center of the cortical bony plate. The osteogenesis depended more on activity of endosteum. The alveolar bone has less potential of the osteogenesis because the healing of gingival ligament and epithelium interfere with the osteogenesis. We call the space which will be filled with new bone "the field of osteogenesis", and postulate that "the field of osteogenesis" is expanded by the activator, such as the direct electric current of ten microamperes, and reduced by healing of the soft tissue.
