Abstract
An odontoma is characterized by malformation of tooth germ. This is not a true tumor. We experienced a compound odontoma at the site corresponding to the apical region of the maxillary right deciduous incisor in a 10-year-old boy. 1) Radiographic examination revealed that the hard tissue mass had a tooth-like radiopacity and was located on the impacted right upper central incisor. 2) The maxillary right deciduous anterior incisor and impacted right upper central incisor were extracted and then the odontoma was enucleated. 3) The diagnosis of compound odontoma was made histopathologically. 4) A review of the Japanese literature reported from 1977 to 1988 was made and discussed clinically.
