Crown prosthesis is generally fabricated in accordance with simple directions for technical work given by the dentist to the dental technician. It is therefore necessary to know what the dentist has in mind when placing an order for crown prosthesis to the dental technician. Questionnaires were sent out to 236 fellow members and 113 (48%) responses were received. In this study, impression taking, model plaster, working cast, interdental space, connector, pontic design, labio-buccal surface form, and arrangement of anterior prosthetic tooth were studied. As a result, it was found that dentists even with a profound knowledge of prosthodontic treatment differed greatly in their thoughts about the fabrication of crown prosthesis. It is therefore necessary for the dentist to pay close attention to the directions for technical work and clearly convey his idea to the dental technician when placing an order for crown prosthesis.
