In accordance with the record on traffic accidents in Kokura for the three years from 1952, drawn up by Kokura Police Station, it is as follows : Along with a increasing traffic frequence, Accidents are strong with a rising tendency year by year. Trucks cause accidents more often than other vehicles. As to age, persons from 20 to 30 involve most frequently in those accidents. As to time, it occurrs most frequently during the time from 9 : 00 to 12 : 00 in the morning and 15 : 00 to 17 : 00 in the afternoon. We can't find out so remarkable difference, among the days of the week, in number of accidents, as well as among the months of a year. The fault is the greatest cause of accidents. Especially, it is to be noticed that accidents are caused comparatively by unlicenced or drunken drivers. And, those accidents are very often due to unskilful driving and ignoring of the traffic regulations. As for victims, a number of the aged and the infant under 6 years-old are most frequently died from or injured by accidents. It is due to the fact the infant play on the street (abstract by author)
