Experimental investigations on the fluid Flow and heat transfer around rectangular cylinders were carried out in the range of subcritical Reynolds numbers. The width/height ratio (c/d) of a section was from 0.33 to 1.5. The local heat transfer coefficients around the cylinder become clear in connection with the Flow characteristics. The average heat transfer around the cylinder is given by Num = CmRe2/3 for c/d ≥0.67. And those of the side and rear faces are given by Nus= csRe2/3 and Nub = cbR2/3, respectively. These constants cm, cs and cb increase with an increase in drag coefficient. cD. The average heat transfer coefficient of the rear face, hb^-, is correlated with the rms values of the fluctuating pressure, Δp, by the expression hb^-∝Δp<0.30∼0.33.>
