Catalytic combustion is controlled not only by surface reactions but also by gas phase reactions. When propane is used as the fuel, the contribution of the gas phase reaction becomes significant, and fundamental information about gas phase reactions become important. In the previous study, the significance of gas phase reactions in the catalytic combustion of propane was shown, and rate constants of three step gas phase reactions which can well predict the temperature and concentration profile were proposed. In this study, the contribution of the gas phase reaction to the catalytic combustion of propane was examined quantitatively, and the role of each gas phase reaction was made clear.
