An intrusive method to measure two-dimensional temperature distributions is developed by using a CT algorithm. The method is applied to measure the gas in a rapid compression machine where roll-up vortex is generated during the compression process. It might induce the temperature distribution and might have an effect on the auto-ignition processes when the gas is combustible. Eight resistance wires are stretched parallel in one plane between the heads of cylinder and piston. With the histories of resistance of these wires and the CT algorithm, the temperature distribution around the roll-up vortex was obtained. In this study, the number of wires used is not sufficient to obtain minute change of distributions of the vortex, but an asymmetric cooling process was clearly measured. It is also proved that this method which is very simple and low cost can be applied to the measurement of the distributions of unburned gas temperature below 320°C.
