The idea of the Equivalent Carnot cycle has made it possible to introduce four non-dimensional parameters deciding exergy loss ratios and thermal efficiency of the theoretical Diesel engine cycle. Diesel engine cycles, the above parameters of which are equal, have equal thermal efficiency and similar shapes on T-s diagram. Variables of a Diesel engine cycle exert influence on exergy losses and thermal efficiency, deviating from the similarity condition.
