Armored fighting vehicles with Mine Resistant Ambush Protection (MRAP) designed to counter Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) have attracted special interest recently. This paper describes dynamic response of a shock absorption structure to blast load. Mathematical models have been developed to predict the effects of blast load on seat-passenger systems. A blast test using scale models was performed to evaluate the blast forces acting on the vehicle and the human body. By comparing the results of mathematical models with the results of the blast test, a simple vehicle acceleration model was derived. As a result, mathematical models were improved and come to attain higher accuracy.
