Steady vibrations of a bowed string of a violin family instrument, when sound energy is transmitted through its bridge to its body, are investigated as sustained self-excited vibrations. The method of analysis is that of Fourier series solutions reinforced by series transformation. A simple numerical example of the case, where the body is a vibrating system of one-degree-of -freedom and the characteristic of frictional force between string and bow is a piecewise-linear one, is given.
