In order to suppress effectively many resonance peaks occurring in an existing machine structure, this paper shows an experimental vibration controlling method which combines the experimental modal analysis method with a design method of dynamic absorbers for a multi-degree of freedom system. To begin with, the mounting location of the dynamic absorbers of a rectangular plate selected as a vibration controlling object and the design parameters are determined by means of the experimental modal analysis method. The major dimensions of four dual dynamic absorbers to suppress the first four resonance peaks are established. Then, the vibration controlling effect given by each dynamic absorber is examined. As a result, a plate which doesn't produce noise resulting from vibration or shock has been constructed.
