Biological-0riented Manufacturing Systems (BMS) are one of the autonomous distributed manufacturing systems that deal with complex and dynamic manufacturing processes. This paper gives an evolutionary method for solving dynamic production scheduling problems using a simple model considering BMS as a pseudo ecosystem. This model is composed of two types of populations: autonomous moving works carrying job sequences of their own and manufacturing cells that select the next work to be processed among all the works sending processing requests. Using this model, a production scheduling problem for two groups of works and one group of manufacturing cells whose evolutionary engines are evolution strategies is solved. The expected adaptive behavior is observed in the computer simulation.
