This paper is concerned with nondestructive testings for steam generators of nuclear plants. Problems on shape identification are discussed through characterization of structural defects in materials. Such defects can be detected using a probe impedance trajectory by scanning of a pancaketype coil nearby sample materials. A parameter estimation technique for estimating the crack shape using the impedance change from the probe is proposed. The proposed algorithm is successfully tested using experimental data.
