A period of adult emergence and morphological features of rice grasshopper, Oxya yezoensis Shiraki, were examined in relation to an annual fluctuation of temperature. When they have developed under the cool-summer condition (1993), the emergence was delayed and it was accelerated under the hot-summer condition (1994). The difference of adult emergence period for two years was estimated to be about one month. The adults tended to be small and a short-winged type in 1993, however, large and a long-winged type prevailed in 1994. The strategy for seasonal adaptation of this univoltine grasshopper was disscussed.
