Influence of the preservation conditions of soybean samples infected with soybean dwarf virus (SDV) to the absorbance of ELISA was investigated. Each 0.2g symmetrical half leaf of soybean leaflets infected with SDV was cut off both sides of the main vein. The fresh half leaf was examined by ELISA. The other was preserved for 176 days in two ways; froze in an ultrafreezer at-60°C and dried in a desiccator at room temperature. In comparison with A405 values of before and after preserved samples, the values of the dried sample was lower than that of the frozen one. Examination of the three parts (leaf, stem and pod) of a withered plant infected with SDV showed that the value of withered leaves was unusually low. In regards to the cause of this phenomenon, the author supposed the correlation between the reduction of metals by water-extracts from withered leaves and occurrence of metals in the virus.
