The activities of adult Genji-firefly, Luciola cruciate, were investigated from 2003 to 2006 in Kure City, Honshu, Japan. The seasonal pattern of adult emergence was bell-shaped. The fireflies frequently flew during 20:00-23:00 and thereafter rested. Fifteen degrees centigrade was the lower limit temperature for them to fly. The upper limit temperature was not found. The male flashing interval was approximately two seconds. Female gregarious oviposition was observed. These were characteristics of West Japan type of the species.
