Abstract
IR spectra of water and deuterium water sorbed in various hydrophobic polymers were measured by using the FT-IR subtraction method. And for three fundamental frequency bands: νa (OH), νs (OH), δ (HOH), of the water molecule, the relationships between νa (OH) and νs (OH) or δ (HOH) were examined with respect to the observed frequency values. The frequency ratios r of H2O to D2O were calculated from the observed νa, νs, and δ. Water molecules sorbed in hydrophobic polymers keep the physical state of the isolated molecule.
