Abstract

Abstract As a result of organized by the classification system of Mabberley, poisonous plants that are cultivated in Japan were able to narrow the list down to 82 families, 193 genera and 298 taxa. The Leguminosae has the largest genus number of poisonous plants (14 genus), and the Ranunculaceae and Solanaceae have the largest taxa number of poisonous plants (21 taxa). 34 edible plants species were included in these cultivated poisonous plants. These finding were provided the basic information for hazard reduction by the poisonous plants for the horticultural activities including citizen gardening, horticultural therapy, horticulture welfare and horticulture education.
