In the present society in Japan where aging is progressing rapidly, home nursing care for elderly is an urgent social problem. Viewing an actual condition of elderly home care, and many case studies on stress relief eff ect, two diff erent aspects about nursing care stress are proposed. （1）one is a stress as burden which becomes the risk factor of the depressed mental state,and（2）the other as power which becomes the source of the purpose of life and the resilience. It seems that positive intervention such as enhancement of self-esteem promotes the stress relief effect.
