Issues of Child Raising Families Living in Urban Areas

Results of a Survey on Families Raising Children

Abstract

　This research analyzes child-raising families life problems and relationships with neighbors in urban areas. As a result, “ income and living expenses”, “illness and health”, and “child-raising problems”, were indicated as problems in the lives of child-raising families. In addition, child-rearing issues included “ academic ability”, “expenses for raising a child”, “balancing work and childcare”. As for the relationships with their neighbors, it was lower than households with no children under age of 18. This result suggests that families raising children may have stronger relationships with their workplaces than with their neighbors, as 90% of fathers and 80.7% of mothers work.
