The authors statistically measured the “freeway space” (vertical dimension) which is the most important factor to estimate the height of the bite plate in case of bite-taking when we make the denture, especially the full denture.
Measurement was made by means of callipers vertical dimension of the central-incisor situation between the centric occlusion and the rest, when the patient seated at normal state in chair.
The results obtained are as follows:
In man (47 persons) mean value 1.5 m.m.
woman (24 persons) 1.1 m.m.
man and woman 1.4 m.m.
maximum value 2.8 m.m.
minimum value 0.5 m.m.
