 A questionnaire survey was conducted among students in order to grasp the actual level of recognition of civil engineering structures. In addition, based on the results of the questionnaire and recent trends in the construction industry and technical college education, we decided to investigate an efficient method of learning the names of civil engineering structures. The results of this survey were almost the same for first-year students and third-year students. There was a large discrepancy between the recognition of civil engineering structures among third-year students and fifth-year students, with a 25.8% increase in the recognition of civil engineering structures among fifth-year students compared to third-year students. This may be due to the fact that retaining walls and box culverts are covered in the fourth grade classes. Based on these results, and taking into account recent trends in the construction industry and KOSEN educations, we propose the use of digital twin of National Institute of Technology, Gunma Collage, created from 3D point cloud data, as a learning material for civil engineering structures in lower grades.
