During the hair cycle, there occurs a rapid alteration of all structures in the skin of rats and mice. Recent evidence indicates that the hair growth cycle in the mouse influences chemical composition of the skin (1, 2, 3). It has been known that some of the most important metabolic processes occurring in the epidermis involve sulfhydryl and disulfide. The present investigation was undertaken to determine the effect of hair growth cycle upon epidermal sulfhydryl in the rat epidermis.
