Abstract

For selected cases of carcinomas of the oral cavity and mesopharynx, a combined laser and radiation therapy has been applied in our department since 1980. This paper describes its technique, rationale and preliminary results. Ten patients with carcinoma of the tongue, 2 with carcinoma of the cheek mucosa and 1 with carcinoma of the mesopharynx were treated with this technique. Follow-up ranged 2 months to 3 years and 1 month. None of the 13 patients has developed recurrence.
