686 (629 are over 2 years old) children have recieved vaccination with attenuated strain LC16m8 vaccinia. It was adminstrated by multiple pressure method. The rate "read as successful prise" is 94.3%, and the incidence of febrile reactions is 2.9%. Seroconversion was noted in all 29 children tested. Comparable antibody levels were obtained, and mean HI antibody titer was 2^<4.0> 2months after vaccination and 2^<3.6> after 6 months. No sever complication occured in any of 686 children recieving tha attenuated vaccinia. The LC16m8 strain of vaccinia appeares to be effective for primary vaccination of children.
