Two hundred and thirteen cases including 200 males and 13 females of laryngeal cancer were treated in Tokai University Hospital over 10 years. Our own original criteria for diagnosis of primary lung cancer with laryngeal cancer was utilized. According to this criteria, there were 9 primary lung cancer patients among the 213 patients. The rate of primary lung cancer with laryngeal cancer was 4.2%. The observed/expected ratio was 3.1. The rate of primary lung cancer with laryngeal cancer was 1.7% between 1960 and 1970 in Japan. The morbidity rate for lung cancer is rapidly increasing in Japan. The interval of diagnosis between laryngeal cancer and lung cancer was 2 years and 5 months on average. 86% of lung cancer cases were diagnosed after laryngeal cancer within 5 years.
