Sharing economy is framed as an opportunity to utilize idle assets in developed nations where the markets are already saturated with consumer goods. In emerging economies, sharing economy provides an exceptional potential to pursue resource efficiency through making sharing the standard for products which of its ownership is low. This paper reviewed sharing economy case studies that targeted the emerging economies of Asia in order to understand the type of sharing economy businesses that have propensity to succeed and ensure sustainable consumption in the region. In particular, the reviewed case studies focused on car sharing and laundry-related sharing businesses.
