Abstract
1. A comparative study of the external charaters of the alimentary canal in 11 species of moths belonging to 8 families was carried out. 2. Among the components of the alimentary canal, the mesenteron was found to be variable interspecifically in its external appearance. 3. With respect to the external appearance of the alimentary canal, in most species studied it seems to be of specific characters. Moreover, it seems to exist the characters of higher categories: genera, families and superfamilies. 4. In general, the data obtained from the present study coincided with the taxonomic system used by entomologist.
