Abstract
Diurnal behaviour of the 3rd-5th instar larvae of Neope goschkevitschii and N. niphonica was observed under the indoor condition. The larva of Neope niphonica is usually found on the leaf of its food plant and feeds in the night. In the nearly morning it descends from the food plant, and conceals itself among the fallen leaves in the daytime. The rhythm of diurnal behaviour-on the leaf in the night, and among the fallen leaves in the daytime-is considerably regular in this species. On the other hand, the larva of N. goschkevitschii feeds its food plant in the night as well as that of N. niphonica, but does not always descend from the food plant in the morning, and the diurnal rhythm is less regular than in N. niphonica.
