We found a new larval food plant of Lycaeides subsolanus in the field on the foot of Mt Fuji. It was identified as Vicia pseudo-orobus. Rearing results with two species of larval food plants, already known V. unijuga and newly found V. pseudo-orobus, suggest both species are equally good for Lycaeides subsolanus. Two species of ants, Lasius japonicus and Formica japonica, were observed in the field tending to the larvae of Lycaeides subsolanus.
