Oviposition plants and seasonal migratory movements of sympatric Pieris melete and P. napi japonica (Lepidoptera, Pieridae)

Abstract

　In order to clarify the seasonal migratory movement of Pieris melete and P. napi japonica, a field survey of oviposition plants in conjunction with recapture surveys was carried out in a small watershed in Nagano Prefecture, central Japan, at intervals of a few days during one season. Both selected species showed seasonal selection of oviposition plants.
