The differences between six morphological characters of the male androconia in Pieris napi napi and other napi group populations collected from Europe, Asia, Japan and Alaska are compared. The results show that on the basis of most of the characters the enigmatic type locality of Pieris napi nesis ( Fruhstorfer, 1909 ) remains dubious. Only one of the six characters supported the possibility of the type specimens belonging to the population of the southern-western part of Hokkaido, rather than that of Honshu, Japan.
