Plecoptera luteiceps (Walker, 1865) is recorded from Japan for the first time, and its male external morphology, including genital structures, is described and illustrated. This species can be distinguished from the other related two species in Japan, P. violacea (Pagenstecher, 1884) and P. oculata (Moore, 1882) based mainly on the bright ochraceous head and prothorax. The male genitalia of this species have relatively unique characters within the genus Plecoptera, and therefore, further taxonomic studies are required to reveal the taxonomic affiliation of this species.
