The Project-Based English Program (PEP) at Ritsumeikan University aims to enhance students' communication skills. The Project English (P3) course, offered to second-year students during the spring semester, employs several kinds of oral communication activities, including debates and panel discussions, to cultivate students' skills to articulate and effectively convey their own opinions. This study examined the impact of integrating drama workshops into the course, focusing on how the use of physical and multi-faceted expression contributes to English communication skills. The incorporation of drama workshops was found to be significant not only for improving English communication skills but also for enriching the field of communication design in English learning environments. Importantly, the study suggests that theatrical techniques can help overcome common barriers in English learning, such as feelings of awkwardness or shyness, by creating an environment where students can express themselves more freely and assertively.
