Abstract
Despite the common use of the words "simultaneous interpretation" or "simultaneous translation", how simultaneous interpreters are actually trained doesn't seem to be widely known. The author, as a trainee, having attended the Simultaneous Interpretation Training Class at the Community College of Sophia University for one year 1981-1982, has acquired some basic knowledge and techniques for training simultaneous interpreters, and has also found that a language laboratory and an audio-visual room have been effectively used for this class. In this paper the author mainly introduces the LL activities which consist of basic training methods. He also hopes that these learning and teaching activities introduced here will be widely accepted and applied to foreign language teaching in a language laboratory.
