Revitalization of the city centers is one of the serious social problems in Japan.
Especially, the central areas in the local cities are in a serious situation. Various
countermeasures are being implemented nationwide to revitalize the central city area. In
recent years, the use of public space has been focused on, and various initiatives have been
implemented nationwide. According to this background, this study aims to conduct a social
experiment to utilize public space (a part of wide sidewalk) for Keyaki Boulevard sidewalks,
to understand the possibility of guiding the pedestrians around the railway station to the
experiment place and the effects by the utilizing public space.
Similar to last year, the possibility that the space installed by experiments including
the market with several shops using Yatai, and the parklet are able to guide pedestrians
around JR Maebashi Station to social experimental places was shown. In addition, the
proposals were presented to increase the effectiveness by the utilizing public space.
