Equilibrium between Metallic Titanium and Titanium Ions in MgCl₂–LiCl Molten Salt

Abstract

The equilibrium between metallic titanium and titanium ions, 3Ti²⁺ = 2Ti³⁺ + Ti, in MgCl₂–LiCl molten salt system was revaluated by means of best fitting. The measurement was also carried for the MgCl₂–LiCl melt with various composition of LiCl at 1023 K. The results illustrate that the values of K_c correspond well with the composition of the melt which defined as polarizing power.
