Effect of polymer coating to membranes on membrane fouling control of MBRs was measures in a laboratory scale MBR reactor. Mixture of MPC polymers and PVA was coated to PVDF MF membrane and a long–term operation using the submerged MBR reactor was conducted. It was found that the coated membranes showed better performances compared to non–coated PVDF membrane. E260 in the membrane permeated and DOC removal rate in the membranes revealed that coated polymers prevented adsorption of foulants such as proteins onto membrane surface and mitigated fouling in MBRs.
