Abstract
Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are natural delivery systems that mediate intercellular communications between adjacent and distant cells during a variety of physiologic and pathologic processes. EVs have been proposed as nanocarriers for delivering therapeutic agents due to their biocompatibility and potential to cross various biological barriers in the body. To investigate the roles of EVs, various approaches to visualize and track EVs in vitro and in vivo have been developed. Here, we highlight recent advances in EV imaging tool development, especially in preclinical and clinical settings.
