Abstract
The cattle MHC class II region is divided into two subregions, named class IIb and class IIa. Class IIb contains non classical class II genes, and class IIa region contains classical class II genes. Previously, the BoLA-DRB3 had been mainly analyzed for class IIa polymorphism, but recently we developed PCR-SBT method for high-resolution genotyping of the BoLA-DQA1 gene, which enable to analyze class IIa haplotype including the BoLA-DQ loci. In this review, we focused on the BoLA-DQA1 polymorphism among various cattle breeds and the association between DQA gene and disease susceptibility.
