Abstract
A microplatform moving freely on machining surface was developed. It is made from a so1eno1d with coi1ed springs and two electromagnets. Motion like a worm behavior is app1ied to its basic mec11anism. The solenoid plays an important role to actuate translationally the micro-platform with the help of the springs. On the other hand, the electromagnet acts as a fixer which keeps rigid1y the microplatform on the machining surface. A prototype of microplatform with the maximum stroke is 0.65 [mm], time constants in 30.5 (excited), 32.5 (unexcited) [ms], respectively and velocity 2 [mm/s], is reported in this paper.
