Abstract
Simple and accurate measurement method of structural damping coefficient was investigated. Requirements of measurement were derived as a result of studying airflow damping and energy dissipation of the supporting point. Normal size samples were used and the method of suspension by thread was adopted to reduce airflow damping and energy dissipation of the supporting point. Structural damping coefficient was measured using lasor doppler vibrometer and FFT analyzer. Using the measurement system. structural damping coefficient of several different types of grass were measured. As a result the measurement system was validated for measuring structural damping coefficient.
