The long-term wear test for the watch approved by "Japan Clock & Watch Association's Standard JCWA-008 Anti metal allergy watches - Classification and performance" was done to 25 participants allergic to the gold and the nickel or cobalt. And no allergic reactions were found in all participants.
We have studied light scattering LCD for digital watch display and realized high quality in color appearance using (its) novel paper-like white image and high transparency. For higher capacity in display image, characteristics needed to realize the time-division multiplex driving (of light scattering LCD) are also discussed.
We have developed a practical mechanical watch offering the same level of accuracy as quartz watches. Our effort to develop this watch centered at two major points. The first point is to achieve compatibility between the electromagnetic brake used to control hand speed and the power generated for the control circuit, while the second is to detect rotor rotation speed during the brake is applied. We developed a rectifier circuit composed of a voltage doubler and a chopping pulse generator to boost the generated voltage. The chopping pulse also enables the system to generate electric energy and to detect rotation of the rotor during the brake is applied to the rotor. Because the electric circuit requires minute electric energy, the size of the generator and the mainspring used to supply mechanical energy can be reduced.
New type of self-generation watch(Eco-Drive Thermo)has been developed. Micro-thermoelectric generator set in this watch converts body heat to electric energy and drive this watch. Generator is consisted of 2,268 pairs of BiTe thermocouples in a square cm and has very high output-voltage of 0.8V/℃. From wearing experiments of this watch, average generation energy of 12μ W was estimated.
Simple and accurate measurement method of structural damping coefficient was investigated. Requirements of measurement were derived as a result of studying airflow damping and energy dissipation of the supporting point. Normal size samples were used and the method of suspension by thread was adopted to reduce airflow damping and energy dissipation of the supporting point. Structural damping coefficient was measured using lasor doppler vibrometer and FFT analyzer. Using the measurement system. structural damping coefficient of several different types of grass were measured. As a result the measurement system was validated for measuring structural damping coefficient.
We have proposed new KINETIC system "Auto Relay", and in order to materialize it, we have developed about three major points as follows. The first point was time memory system while power save function was working and the time relay system to adjust to the correct time. The second was carrying-state detection function of the arm's movement, which was detected by the power generation condition. The third was high-speed motor for the time shortening while adjusting to correct time.
The forge processing system which consists of cold multistage forging, tapping and formrolling has been developed. A wristwatch crown, which is small and complicated with a groove, can be formed with the forge processing system into its final shape in a fairly short time which is about 1/15 of the time required in a conventional cutting process. The cold multistage forging is accomplished in six processes including shearing of a wire, upsetting of a crown head and forward extrusion. The tapping is conducted to the forged crown after the annealing. The groove can be formed with form rolling using the flat tools in the stem of a crown. The crown manufactured on the forge processing system can be finished only in the barrel polishing to smooth surface without large defects. Mass-production and practical application of a cheap crown may now be realized as a result of this processing system development.
Mail terminal "me-tel" by which the PHS infrastructure was used was developed. The mail of a hand-written character and the illustration (color) and the mail of the text can be easily made for the feature of this "me-tel". Moreover, because the PHS module is built into, mail can be transmitted and received without connecting telecommunications equipment.
