Iron-wollastonite from the Sampo mine showing properties distinct from those of wollastonite

Specific gravity, optical constants, cell dimensions, and infrared and Mössbauer absorption spectra have been determined for an iron-wollastonite of approximate composition (Ca_4.95 Fe²⁺_0.85 Mn_0.16 Mg_0.07)_6.03 (Si_5.97 Ti_0.01 Fe³⁺_0.01)_5.99 O_18.00. From these analyses it appears that iron-wollastonite forms a series distinct from that of wollastonite.
