The perpendicular magnetic printing characteristics on exchange coupled composite (ECC) media are investigated using micromagnetic simulation. It is clarified that magnetic printing onto ECC media is feasible. Master patterns were clearly printed onto ECC or semi-ECC media with coherent rotation of magnetizations in hard and soft layers. The optimum printing characteristics in ECC or semi-ECC media is the same as that of single-layered (SL) medium. When the thermal stabilities in SL and ECC media are the same, the optimum printing field for ECC medium is lower than that of SL medium. To obtain sufficient printing characteristics in ECC media, the ECC media need stronger interlayer exchange coupling than that of semi-ECC media.
