Abstract
We have prepared seven mouse monoclonal antibodies (OTA.1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7) which react with ochratoxin A (OTA), a nephrotoxin produced by A. ochraceus. The OTA. 2 antibody equally reacted with OTA and ochratoxin B (OTB). Other antibodies (OTA.1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7) reacted with OTA but not significantly with OTB. None of these antibodes cross-reacted significantly with ochratoxin α, coumarin and 4-hydroxycoumarin. The least detectable amount of OTA in the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay with OTA.2 or OTA. 3 antibody was 5 to 50 pg OTA per assay. These monoclonal antibodies would be useful for the detection and quantitation of OTA in foods, feeds, and biological fluid.
